Plush Blush

Helllooo!

I hope you all are doing welllll. Good luck on your first weeks back at school and cherish the last week of break for those who are still off! For todays OOTD, I decided to combine my ongoing pastel phase with the Asian street style that has grown on me since my last trip to Korea. Easy fitting silhouettes make for the comfiest of clothes and light layers are welcome in all seasons of SanFran.

First of all, a lot of you know that pink was never my color. However, the chunky basic stitch drew my attention away from the fact that I was wearing what my 7-year-old self would have deemed “the ugliest color ever created.” But surprisingly, I am warming up to wearing the blush/pastel hues quite well, stated with this oversized light coat.

Deep pockets were another plus. I mean c’mon, very rarely can a girl fit her whole wallet in a pocket. Deep pockets also mean cover in the Winter later (multi seasonal points!).

To be honest, I thought I looked a little unkept with my poofy beanie and chunky boots, but my cat eye half rims and alligator skin print satchel saved me from looking like a hoodlum. I don’t know, but adding this pair of shades adds class back into everything…

Mixed textures and colors are always a need in my outfits. Chunky knits contrast with soft jersey and pastels bring basic grey and black back to life.

Pastel Breezes

DSC_4841Welcome 2015, may the adrenalynn flow wildly! So, I’ve recently jumped into this light blue phase with Spring being just around the corner. That said, the central focus of this post is going to be this gorgeous baby blue moto jacket I picked up the other day at Forever21. And what better day to get a few shots in Alamo Square?

At first, I was a little hesitant to combine pastels with gunmetal zippers and distressed faux-leather, but surprisingly, ideas just came to me as I kinda just. . . stared at it. The quilted shoulders and abundant zippers add edge to a color most wouldn’t associate with rugged materials, but this jacket breaks all the rules with grace. Here are just 2 of my ideas (more to come, don’t worry).

  1. Alright, call me basic, but what says minimalist chic better than your fave white tee and black skinnies? The jacket is easy to layer with and adds edge to a classic outfit.

For some added attitude, I grabbed by white studded clutch with lace details. Another innocent looking bag with a touch of bad from the cone studs.

And as if my ‘fit wasn’t already over accessorized, I pulled it all together with my Aria necklace from Stella&Dot.

  2. For my second outfit, I kept it minimal without sacrificing detail. How? With a contrasting floral romper of course!

Floral prints are going to forever be a Spring/Summer staple. The jacket adds the edge back into the look with some chunky booties for an extra boost.

Finally, the knit scarf keeps me cozy and keeps my leather pieces from being overpowering.

I painted a pastel mint color on my nails for both outfits to keep things light and Spring-y. (Ghetto nail dryer: space heater)
